I too grew up in the remains of this wonderful estate...finding this site...is like opening a buried treasure.the one thing I remember my late mother Patt saying was the rhododendrons leading to our house were planted by the Italian Gardner named Rudolph Valentino...we always called them Rudy's Rhodos...and as o last year...they are still there...

I grew up in the (converted) barn to the Bliss Estate. My dad took a pick ax to what was the foundation of the cow sheds to make room for his vegetable garden. He used the former cow milking shed as a tool work shop. We'd skate on that man made pond all winter and, in summer, raft around it like Huck Finn and catch frogs - and fall asleep to sound of bull frogs in the pond (who all disappeared about 15 years ago).
